Mom's turn:Furbabies leave paw prints on your heart

Samson was my mid-life crises baby…and he’s a handful! At 3 years old he’s still all puppy! He thinks it playtime all day long. But with his melt-your-heart brown eyes, I can never resist!

wanna play - come on, i know you do

Samson is a Yorkshire Terrier, better known as a “Yorkie.” This breed is notorious for being small but mighty, as it’s terrier part suggests. They were originally bred in the 1700’s for catching “small game and rodents even if it meant following them into bolt holes” (p3 Popular Dogs Series) Today – they are pampered and groomed but have not lost their zest for chasing things. Samson loves to hunt various things in the house: flies, dragon flies, the illusive tennis ball, and the occasional mouse.

where did it go?

Aside from playing, his favorite positions are on my shoulders while riding in the car so he can be on the look-out or under my foot to get rubbed (note the perfectly pedicured pigs thanks to my wonderful daughter Teeny).

i found the spot

Besides being just plain adorable, a Yorkie can be a valuable service dog – perfect for seniors because of their small size. They are very good for: the deaf and hard-of-hearing, migraine & seizure disorders, and people with some visual loss. Mine, however, has the most important job of all – a companion of the heart.
