Mom's turn: Making Grandma proud

The garden has done better than even my HH expected…so now we are trying new recipes, sharing with the neighbors, and canning. Now that’s a chore in the Southern summer heat. However, Travis’ grandmother shared plenty of secrets and he’s got the “garden fresh taste” in his blood. We spent many summers helping her can veggies and fruit and enjoying the rewards later. So to carry on the tradition and share with our daughter how it’s done is a wonderful feeling…even if it’s sweaty work! Travis made some bread & butter pickles, both spears & chips, out of our cucumbers. They look wonderful – but we have to wait four to five WEEKS before we can taste them. Hmmm, a lesson in patience all wrapped up in pickles…never would have thought.
not sure they'd win the blue ribbon like Grandma's pickles, but I'll sure enjoy eating them

Travis,
You have the best ideas!!
The rewards from your garden are
so worth all the effort.
You could win the Blue Ribbon at the county fair this year!
